The iPhone and iPod touch devices do not have built-in general file transfer capabilities, so each third-party application that requires access to external files is solely responsible for implementing its own file transfer mechanism.
In the initial version of iSilo™ for iPhone OS, you transfer document files to your device by downloading them from a web server. This means that you must first upload your files to a web server and then use iSilo™ on your device to download the files from the web server to your device. Future updates to iSilo™ for iPhone OS are expected to provide additional flexibility.
The following step-by-step instructions use Yahoo! Briefcase as the web server to which we will upload the files we want to transfer to our device. Yahoo! Briefcase is a free service provided by Yahoo and only requires that you have registered a Yahoo ID, such as when you sign up for a Yahoo mail account.
These instructions assume that you have already signed up for a Yahoo ID and that you have iSilo™ installed on your iPhone or iPod touch device.
Note that the images shown here may differ from your particular setup depending on the version of iSilo™ you have installed and whether Yahoo! Briefcase has updated their web interface since this article was written, but the instructions are pretty much the same.
