How to transfer files to iSilo™ for iPhone OS via iTunes

These instructions show you how to transfer a document file to your iPad so that you can view the document with iSilo™ for iPhone OS.

Beginning with iTunes 9.1 and subject to additional requirements detailed below, you can now directly transfer files to applications on your iPhone OS device over the USB cable. Prior to this feature availability each third-party application that required access to external files was solely responsible for implementing its own file transfer mechanism.

The following lists the requirements to use this new capability known as "File Sharing" for iSilo™ for iPhone OS:

These instructions assume you have met the above-described requirements.

Note that the images shown here may differ from your particular setup depending on the version of iSilo™ you have installed, the version of iTunes you have installed, and the version of Mac OS X or Windows® on your system, but the instructions should be the same in most if not all respects. The screenshots in this article were taken on a system running Mac OS X 10.6.3 with iTunes 9.1.

In the instructions that follow, the word computer will be used to refer to your Mac OS X or Windows® computer and the word device will be used to refer to your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad device.

  1. In order to be able to transfer files to your device, you need to first connect your device with your computer using the USB cable. After connecting the cable, if iTunes does not start automatically, then you need to manually start it. In the left pane in iTunes, click the name of your device under the Devices section. This gives you a set of tabbed pages on the right pane related to the different aspects of your device that you can synchronize using iTunes.
